Using Social Media Sites For Business? Here’s 3 Tips For You.
So you’re using social media sites for business, but aren’t getting the results you want? Here are 3 easy to apply tips to become more efficient with your social media marketing.
It seems that nowadays almost everyone wants to use social media sites for business. However, it also seems that when people get online to promote their business through their social media outlets, they either lose their mind, or their common sense. Have you seen folks like this? I’d like to help you avoid the mistakes that we’ve all seen made.
Tip #1 for using social media sites for business is actually pretty simple. The name of the media itself kind of spells it out for you. It’s social media my friends, so go forth and be social. Let me ask you a question. How many times have you seen something like these gems in your inbox? I’d love to connect with you to share an opportunity of a lifetime, or I’m always looking to connect with like minded individuals. Who the heck talks like that? Certainly not anyone I know during the course of a normal conversation. There’s something about being on social media that brings out the weird in people. Just be social with the people you reach out to. Start out with hello, and ask questions about them. Engage them and show that you’re a real person who is interested in their needs. A simple thing such as saying hi, or commenting on a photo is a great way to begin creating this type of engagement.
Tip #2 for using social media sites for business goes hand in hand with the first tip. Observe what everyone else is doing on social media. See what the masses are doing, and then RUN in the opposite direction. Do what nobody else is doing. Go out of your way to separate yourself from the crowd. Just take a look at your feed on any of the social media sites for business, or personal profiles, that you have. How often do you see a post with a pitch or a link to some sort of offer? I know the answer, and it’s a lot! All of the “Check out my offer” and you need to buy now” nonsense just becomes a bunch of noise. What do people do when things get to noisy? They turn down the volume and shut you off. Again, I encourage you to avoid becoming part of the blur by being social and truly engaging with people you can help. Here is some great training that could help you enhance your marketing and attract business to you like thirsty person to a water fountain on a blazing hot day.
Finally, tip #3 for using social media sites for business is probably the hardest on of all. Tell me if this has ever happened to you. You get on your favorite social media account for “just a minute”. Next thing you know, you look at your watch, three and a half hours and 2 games of Candy Crush have gone by, and you’ve got no work done. Before I set time limits for myself, this was a common occurrence. When you’re using social media sites for business, it’s important to recognize how valuable your time is. Give yourself a productivity goal for the connecting with a certain number of new people, or putting up a pay per click ad, and set a definite time limit to get it done. If you allot 60 minutes to complete the task, then once that alarm goes off, you’re finished and on to the next task on your list for the day. This will force you to become more efficient with your time. You can always come back later to finish up what you didn’t complete.
By now, you see the importance of using social media sites for business. It’s vital to your marketing efforts on these platforms that you do it in the most effective way possible. Apply these three tips and you’ll be on the right path to getting the most out of social media platforms for whatever you’re promoting.
