Do you use solo ad advertising to grow your email subscriber list, and home business? If not, it’s definitely something to consider. If you don’t know what a solo ad is, then keep reading for a basic explanation and a few tips to start you off.

A solo ad, simply explained, is when you purchase ad space from someone who already has an existing email list of subscribers that are in your niche’. The subscribers on this vendors list could potentially be interested in your offer. The owner of said email list would then mail out your ad to their subscribers. They will promise a predetermined number of clicks on your ad. What they cannot do is guarantee sales.

When getting ready to place a solo ad, there are a few things to consider. You must first find a reputable vendor. You can go to Google or Facebook, and look for potential vendors and sellers. Look for reviews from previous buyers. Were they satisfied? Are those reviews just testimonials from other solo vendors? Can you contact them via Skype to ask questions? You have to find someone that you’re comfortable with spending your advertising dollars with, so if they’re responding to your request for information and answering your questions, that’s usually a good first sign.

If you’ve never run a solo ad before, you may be asking yourself, “what are some of the questions I should be asking these sellers?”. Well here are a few for you to lay out for them. Ask if they will use your ad copy, also called swipe copy, word for word. Have they ever run your offer before, and if so, how often? Also ask if your ad will be the only one sent out in the email, and where will the ad be placed in the email they send? Will they use any pop ups, pop overs, or use software to rotate your ad with other buyers. You want to be sure that your ad is the only one going out, and that it’s in the body of the email using your own copy.

Pricing for a solo ad will depend on the vendor you pick. A good range is $45 to $65 dollars for 100 clicks. Try to remember that it’s all relative to the return you get on your investment. I’d rather pay more for clicks and get some sales, rather than paying less with no sales generated. You must test, test, and test again to find at least 10 reputable vendors with responsive lists of buyers that you can put into your batting order of solo ad sellers.

You must then provide your own valuable follow up emails to engage them. Then they may become a buyer, customer, or teammate down the road.
